Psp slim tv cables help?
you bought the component inputs, you need the composite inputs.

there is a converter for it, but its about $170..

you can use the composite to watch videos, but not play games.

HDMI and TV / DVD / Surround Sound?

Please help because this stuff is driving me mad.

I have a LCD TV/DVD combi, so the dvd player is already built into the TV. The tv is HDTV.

The side of the tv has a HDMI INPUT. What i want to know is, if I find an AV Receiver with the same HDMI socket on it, then plug surround speakers into the receiver, then use a hdmi cable to plug the receiver to the tv/dvd, will I get surround sound on my TV and dvd?

I don't want to go buying things until I get it right.

Thanks

HDMI and TV / DVD / Surround Sound?
More than likely not. But if you include a model number of your existing TV there may be another way. Include models for everything you currently have or are seriously considering.

EDIT:

Your only option to use your current set up is to hook up a mini to RCA adapter cable and settle for stereo sound. For a bedroom set this would be more than acceptable. As long as you get a good system that incorporates a auxiliary in you should be fine. I would also recommend a universal remote to ease the confusion as most stereo systems now will not control a TV, but it is worth a shot.

Denon, Yamaha, Onkyo are all base line names to start with when considering a stereo system, but like anything else make sure you like the sound.
Reply:Based on your information, you can't get surround sound with that unit.

At best, you can connect your TV's earphone jack to your receiver and get stereo sound (you can get an adapter cable from Radio Shack to go from miniplug to RCA.) This will allow you to at least use better speakers, but it won't be surround sound.

In general, I don't like those TV/DVD combo units since they're very restrictive, and if one part breaks down, you pretty much end up having to replace the whole unit.

If you really want surround sound that badly, get a separate, stand alone DVD player and connect it to your TV and receiver. You can get a good upscaling DVD player with a HDMI port for under $100 at most electronics stores, so it's not too bad. Just remember, you'll need a HDMI cable for your TV, and either an optical audio or digital coax cable for your receiver.

Don't spend gobs of money on cables. A $20 no-name brand HDMI cable works just as well as those stupid $50-$250 monstrosities. Same goes for the optical audio or digital coax cables.
Reply:The HDMI connection on your TV/DVD combo is an input. It is there so you can connect other HD components to your TV (like and X-Box).

To get surround sound, you need a receiver cabable of at least Dolby Pro Logic II 5.1, preferably DTS or better.

Then you need an appropriate number of speakers. Usually 2 front, 2 rear, 1 center, and a sub woofer.

Once you have all that hooked up, connect the Audio Out to the receiver using RCA cables (red and white) or digital optical audio (if available). You will probably have to do this for both the TV and the DVD player, as they might be separate outputs on the back of the TV/DVD player.

Just as a side note...just because the DVD player is part of the HDTV doesn't mean it is an HD DVD player! So, if you want to watch HD or Blue Ray DVD in 1080p, you'll need a second DVD player capable of this. You would connect using the HDMI input.

Now, to really make things fun...what does HDMI mean..."High Definition Multimedia Input". So, that means it carries both video and audio. If you were to get an X-Box or HD DVD player, you would first connect it to the receiver using HDMI and then to the TV on HDMI....whala...1 cable.

Hope this helps!
Reply:No, that will not work. In order to get the surround you must connect an OUTPUT on the TV to an INPUT on the receiver. This is usually done with an optical or digital coax cable.

Sun TV(Chennai) has STUPID programmes..Can't they improve it?

I HATE the programmes of Sun TV..Either they are politics based or cinema based..Cinema,cinema and more cinema..Where's the educational stuff??

And what's with the overflow of mega serials anyway?

It only shows Indians at their worst..

Not all Indian men hit their wives..Not all Indian women are always crying..The mega serials only show Indian men and women in the worst light possible..And Sun TV is promoting

such stupid serials..

Do they think that Tamil people are that stupid?I don't think so..The Tamil people deserve a better quality of programming..As if they can't get their daily dose of cinema news on the Internet..Sun TV should either improve the quality of programmes or just learn from other channels on how to make the programmes less cinema based and more education based..

All the channels of Sun TV are cinema based..It's so dumb..The only reason Sun TV is number one is not because the programmes are good..It's because Karunanidhi is the Chief Minister of Tamil nadu..

Sun TV(Chennai) has STUPID programmes..Can't they improve it?
you are right 100%, but the thing is that with Mega Serials or these Indian style soap programs generate lot of money, and it really mean lot of money through TV ads. So people who are producing what ever garbage they can dispose of on screen if it can generate revenue. and if you ask them, they will say they are just showing the community a mirror, they are just showing what our community is made up of. and this because they are not answerable to anyone, our govenment is just happy with the license fee they get from these so called Dish Channels. Our government suppose to look after the quality of program which are aired for common public but they are busy enough in stuffing their pockets with money.

So in the mean time do what you can do, talk to other people about this problem and may be sometime down the line, someone out there might give it a thought and stop all this rubbish which is being served to common people.....

Watching regluar tv(non stretched) on widescreen will look like what?

i am in the market for a new lcd tv, but am not sure what size to buy. i currently have a 27 inch tube tv in the living room, and a 20 inch tube tv in the bedroom. what size widescreen lcd tv do i have to buy to get the same size image when watching regular tv? i don't want to stretch the image, i want to watch regular tv in the normal 4:3 ratio. also i would appreciate comparisons with other sizes as well, i am considering anything from a 26 to a 42 incs lcd. thanks in advance.

Watching regluar tv(non stretched) on widescreen will look like what?
Go to the link for a table of equivalent widescreen sizes.

Reply:Normal 4:3 TV would be in the centre of the screen with black vertical bars on either side.

Nearly all TVs these days are wide-screen, certainly all HD TVs. If you want a 4:3 TV then you will probably need to look either an older CRT TV or a computer monitor (ugh).

The size deoesn't make any difference, 26, 37, 42, it's all widescreen, just a smaller set or a bigger set.

Samsung HD TV?

So I've been looking to buy a HD tv and this one came across my view which I was highly interested in and will more than likely purchase the thing is that one of the main reasons why I want a HD tv is for gaming. I own a ps3/xbox 360. Would this tv be a good one for gaming? I've been told that samsungs are very good tv's when it comes to consoles and what not. I also heard that samsung and microsoft have some sort of deal for extra gaming features only for samsung Tv's can anyone confirm this? would this tv be a good one for gaming? this is the link,

Samsung HD TV?
Its a good TV. Very highly rated. Only thing is the response time. Sharps Aquos is 4ms faster than the samsung and also highly rated. I would look at them too.
