I would like to buy my uncle a tv headset. He can hear, but people really have to scream for him so he can hear them. He likes watching TV, but does not always hear everything. So I think it could help him a lot. He does not have a very new TV and does not like to change it. Altough he has the money to buy whatever he likes, he justs sticks to his old stuff. The TV is like 15 years old. So please, people, recommend me something that is worth to buy and will work also with an old TV set.
When I search on Google there is just too many of them and I'm a bit lost.
Thank you.
TV headset for my old uncle with some hearing problems?
Geez - wish I could remember t he name of this gizzmo I saw advertised on TV. It is worn like an earpiece and supposedly turns up the volume of a TV for the listener yet no one else can hear it....I'll keep a look out and let you know.

FOUND IT....
Listen Up Personal Sound Amplifier
Listen Up is a powerful personal sound amplifier that turns ordinary hearing into extraordinary hearing. Listen up comes with comfort fit ear buds. So powerful, you can hear a pin drop …
It's only $14.94 and if you put 'as seen on tv' in your search engine the as seen on tv link will come up and then click on the product on the home page to order.
Reply:Does his TV have an audio in receptor? It should be on the front. If it does you can get him a wireless head set. The base will plug into the TV set and the headset can be worn as he moves around. I live in an apartment complex and I have a severe hearing loss. The wireless set allows me to go about the apartment and still hear the TV.
Alternate: If there is no jack google "personal hearing device + pocketalker" This device has a 25 foot microphone cord that allows you to fit it into a bracket you attach to the TV.
Note on hearing aids: I have had them and they are very expensive and work no better than what I have mentioned above.
Reply:Have you thought about getting his hearing tested, so he can get a hearing aid? Depending on the level of insurance he carries, it may even be completely covered as it is a necessity for health.
I found this site, that may not be your relevant state but you can always check for coverage in YOUR state...

This site covers a bill that was put forward that would pay for hearing aids...

It would certainly be worth your while, and your uncle's health to do further research on this!
Reply:I have a hearing problem also. I find closed-captioned a godsend. If you can talk him into getting a new TV, that would be best. My brother also was hearing-impaired and used a TV headset. I just don't know what brand he purchased. It was used more so that he could watch late TV without disturbing anyone.
You can try this website: harriscomm.com, if in the U.S.A.
I understand completely about older people hanging onto old stuff. It is a hard situation.
