I posted yesterday but here's the full scoop: I have a 10 year old RCA TV. I had my Dish Network box hooked up via a loop - tv/dvd player/dish box. I took the dish box off for awhile. I went to reattach it and when I go to watch tv - just SNOW! The dish box does work on other tvs so it's not the box. I changed nothing as far as connections go. I did try connecting directly to the tv, no luck. I had the television search for channels, thinking that was the issue - it doesn't find any channels EXCEPT when I search for channels while the DVD player is on. Then it finds the channel the dvd player is set to - Channel 3. That is also the channel for the Dish box. Tried watching tv again thinking all was solved - nope. Any ideas on what's up? Thanks!
TV Trouble!!!?
Does the DVD player have a "TV/DVD" switch? Most old VCRs had this, so you would switch between watching what was on the media or what was coming in from the external signal. Your DVD player probably has a similar feature. If you don't switch it to "TV", then the external (sattelite) signal won't get routed to the TV and your TV won't receive any signal.
Reply:When you had the tv search done %26amp; it found the DVD on Ch 3, then tried sat receiver that didn't work, did you try the DVD again to see if it would work? What about trying a set of RCA cables(audio %26amp; video) out of the receiver into the tv (if the tv has A/V input).
Do you have another receiver you can take the tv to %26amp; try it there? If it does work there then add the dvd to it there for a test.
I'm still guessing it's in the tv tuner though!
Reply:You've got to check your leads again. The box should connect through your DVD then from the DVD to the TV. The DVD might need to be on an AV setting, to receive from the box as will your TV (to receive from the DVD).
