Hi, I reciently bought an LG HD tv... and i just got my new digital cable box from cable vision. Now.. I have got the tv to show digital tv by hooking up the coaxial from the wall to my cable box to the tv.. also, i noticed that it had one of those composite wires (red, green and white i believe) i have put that into av1. by watching TV through this, i get the digital tv that i wanted...
Now.. my question is.. I have a DVD/VCR combo.. do i hook this up by buying another coaxial cable so that it goes from wall -%26gt; cable box -%26gt; vcr -%26gt; tv? and is that all i need to do? or do i need to also have a composite coming from VCR/DVD to tv? Please show me the most efficient and best combo. Thanks~!
Help setting up tv, and dvd vcr combo with new cable box~!?
when setting up a cable box, vcr, and tv you need to connect the coaxial cable in the following order:
Cable Box -%26gt; VCR -%26gt; TV
1. connect the coaxial cable to the in port of the cable box.
2. run another coaxial cable from the out port of the cable box to the in port of the vcr.
3. run another coaxial cable from the vcr to the tv.
like you mentioned, the dvd composite cables also need to be run to the back of the tv as well.
Reply:It really depends if you plan to do a lot of recording with your VCR. If you never record shows and only want to play back movies, just hook the VCR through the composite wires (red, white, yellow) to av2.
If you record a lot of shows, set it up as Steve suggests but remember, the output of the cable box is channel 3 so you must set your recorder to 3 and use cable vision remote to set the channel to record.
