Direct tv cables?

i have direct tv and i have a plasma but on my 3rd floor where my tv is i dont have an wire to connect my direct tv box to. i wanted to know does the cable coax cable have to be coming direct from the roof or can i spilt the connection from a diffrent cable and put a splitter.

Direct tv cables?
Sorry about the other comments. I had cabletv on my mind.

If you want directv on two TV's your going need 2 dishes with 2 separate cables or 1 dish with a dual LNB with 2 coaxial outputs. They also make quad LNBs for 4 receivers hookups.
Reply:The above answer works for cable, but not for satelite

Each tv needs it's own box to tune the channels, each box has to be wired to the satelite dish to a seperate connector, if you only had one box, you could only tune to the same channel on all your sets, Unless you got their digital video recorder package, then you could record one channel and watch another, but still the same on all the tvs hooked to it.
