Watching regluar tv(non stretched) on widescreen will look like what?

i am in the market for a new lcd tv, but am not sure what size to buy. i currently have a 27 inch tube tv in the living room, and a 20 inch tube tv in the bedroom. what size widescreen lcd tv do i have to buy to get the same size image when watching regular tv? i don't want to stretch the image, i want to watch regular tv in the normal 4:3 ratio. also i would appreciate comparisons with other sizes as well, i am considering anything from a 26 to a 42 incs lcd. thanks in advance.

Watching regluar tv(non stretched) on widescreen will look like what?
Go to the link for a table of equivalent widescreen sizes.

http://www.screenmath.com/
Reply:Normal 4:3 TV would be in the centre of the screen with black vertical bars on either side.

Nearly all TVs these days are wide-screen, certainly all HD TVs. If you want a 4:3 TV then you will probably need to look either an older CRT TV or a computer monitor (ugh).

The size deoesn't make any difference, 26, 37, 42, it's all widescreen, just a smaller set or a bigger set.

Samsung HD TV?

So I've been looking to buy a HD tv and this one came across my view which I was highly interested in and will more than likely purchase the thing is that one of the main reasons why I want a HD tv is for gaming. I own a ps3/xbox 360. Would this tv be a good one for gaming? I've been told that samsungs are very good tv's when it comes to consoles and what not. I also heard that samsung and microsoft have some sort of deal for extra gaming features only for samsung Tv's can anyone confirm this? would this tv be a good one for gaming? this is the link,

Samsung HD TV?
Its a good TV. Very highly rated. Only thing is the response time. Sharps Aquos is 4ms faster than the samsung and also highly rated. I would look at them too.

Panasonic TV Problem. Please help?

I have a Panasonic TV not sure what the model is and where it's located I cannot pull it out and check, but it's an old regular TV not a flat screen or anything.

But this TV always gave a great picture, and sound

One morning we turned it on, and there is absolutely no picture

There IS still great sound, but the screen is compeletely blank don't even light up

I'd like to repair this TV, because it is still in great physical shape.

If there is any steps you have that may help me identify the problem would be great, as soon as someone helps me pull the TV off the Self i'll post the model number!

Panasonic TV Problem. Please help?
The model is located on the back of the TV. There should be a sticker with the model #, the serial #, and the date of manufacture. And to be honest, putting the model # here won't help anyone to tell you what is wrong with the tv. It will however give you the screen size (you will see letters and numbers in the model # - usually the first two numbers tell you what screen size it is).

You can try a hard reset (unplug the tv from the wall outlet and let it sit for a half hour, then plug it back in and try it) and see it that will cure the problem. Sometimes it will.

Other than that I recommend taking it to a service center (preferably one that is panasonic authorized). They may or may not charge a diagnosis (or estimate) fee when you bring it in. Most service centers charge based on the screen size of the tv.

Another thing to consider is whether you use a cable box or not. If you do, unhook the box and put the cable directly to the tv. If you get a picture, you have a bad cable box and need to replace it. If you still have the same problem it is definitely in the tv set.

Hope this helps and good luck!
Reply:Its prolly a flatscreen but not a flat panel. Is this a TAU Series?
Reply:This is an old and very worthwhile trick. Pull your TV out and take it to a local or better yet major company that fixes TV's ask them to determine the problem and give you an estimate of value. When they give you a price to have the work done say that it is to much and take the TV back.

What happens is that when they open the TV usually the cause of the problem is very simple and they just fix it while the TV is open. When you get it home it will probably be in working order and if not you have a good idea what is wrong with it and how much it will cost to fix it.

Solution #2 if you are a smoker or other people in your house smoke the build up of nicotine and tars on the interior of the TV will short out the TV by gumming out the connections. This can happen in as little as a couple of years. Easy to correct by a technician. keep it in mind.
Reply:Have you checked for the picture on every input? If you access the menu, does it come up? when you power it up and turn it off, is there ever a "flash" on the screen? when you turn it on, do you hear a "sizzling" sound? if the answer to all of those is no (except the first one), then you need to take it to someone that fixes tv's.

Best TV tuner card for Dish TV (Satellite TV) in India?

Hi can anyone suggest me what is the Best TV tuner card that will work in India for watching satellite TV channels (Dish TV/Tata Sky) which has Composite video output (RCA)

Instead of buying a TV card. Do this.

Did Direct TV fry my TV and DVD?

I just moved and switched from cable to Direct TV. At one point during installation tech called me into the room and asked me how to turn TV on. I pushed power button and got no power - it was totally dead. TV is 2 years old and was working fine. At this point I thought maybe it broke in move so I pulled a spare TV from closet and swapped. A few days later my wife tried to use DVD/VCR combo (also 2 yrs old) and had same problem - no power. Both pieces were plugged in when tech did install and both pieces now are dead. Stereo receiver and CD player were on same power strip and work fine. Wondering if Direct TV either fried my equipment in installation or maybe signal was sent to disable equipment. If so, can signal be canceled. Any info or direction would be appreciated. Thank you.

Did Direct TV fry my TV and DVD?
There is no signal that would effect your tv or vcr.The only thing could have been some sort of power surge.
Reply:I use to work for a cable company and there is no "signal" that can be sent to stop your tv or dvd player from being used. The only way we are able to send a signal to your boxed is because we have their serial numbers and model numbers. You can call and speak to a supervisor about what happend and explained that he was alone in the room doing the install and called you in there to ask how to turn on your tv, but don't expect them to take blame or reimburse you in any way because they have no idea of determining what could be wrong with your existing equipment. If you want to fight this you can take the tv and dvd/vcr combo to a repair person to find out what happend and they will tell you if something was done to them.

Have my Tv hooked up on S-video output on my video card and when I start a full screen game the TV goes blank?

I want to have a full screen game on my monitor and a movie on my TV from the S-video but if I am playing a movie on my TV then start a full screen game the TV goes blank. Its weird a window can be open on the monitor and the tv works fine but its when you do anything full screen on the monitor the TV goes blank.

Thanks for any help

Have my Tv hooked up on S-video output on my video card and when I start a full screen game the TV goes blank?
In the game configuration set the screen resolution to match your TV. Check your video card's manual.
Reply:That's just the way the video card works, you can't run a fullscreen video on the TV and a fullscreen game on your monitor - just the nature of the beast.

Buying a new TV?

I am in the process of buying one of those new slim widescreen televisions. However, I am a bit confused about some of the terminology they use these days. For example, is it essential to buy a HD TV? What about a tv with a digital logo. What is the difference between the two? Also, the government is saying that it will be changing to digital from analogue within the next few years. So does that mean I must buy a HD or digital tv? What happens if I buy an ordinary wide screen tv? Would I miss out on tv programmes?

Finally, if I buy a HD TV, would I need to buy another dvd player? At present, I subscribe to sky. With a HD TV would my subscription to sky increase? Would I need a new sky box?

Many Thanks in advance for your response

Buying a new TV?
If you are buying a new tv there are basically two types of tvs out there hd and digital the first one is ready to accept hd signals as it has at least 1 hdmi socket incorporated in it the second type digital just means if you connect a digital source to it ai will work with it ie digital cable or standard sky. secondly if you buy either set you only need to subscribe to sky hd service if 1 you want to but you would need to purchase the hd ste as a digital one would not generally have the hdmi connexion fitted just a scart socket and to answer your question about the dvd recorder a standard one will work on either set but I would hang fire on the hd dvd recorder as they cant make their mind up about which format to use HDD or blue ray or another format and the recorders are anywhere between £500:00 and £1200:00 at present even the film industry dont know which format will win out a bit like the old betamax and vhs wars 20 years ago I hope this helps
Reply:There are a lot of questions here so I have taken them one at a time -

%26lt;is it essential to buy a HD TV?%26gt;

No. HD means High Definition - the picture quality is better so long as you are watching a HD channel or using a HD source

%26lt;What about a tv with a digital logo. What is the difference between the two?%26gt;

'Digital' means the TV will receive Freeview through your TV aerial. HD refers to the ability to view a high definition channel (which could be Freeview or Sky)

%26lt;the government is saying that it will be changing to digital from analogue within the next few years. So does that mean I must buy a HD or digital tv?%26gt;

HD is not an issue. You say you have Sky. If you intend to stay with Sky then it makes no difference whether the TV receives digital (i.e. Freeview) or not. If you think you may stop subscribing to Sky then you should buy a digital TV (although even if you didn't you could always plug in an external Freeview box, but having digital built in makes more sense)

%26lt;What happens if I buy an ordinary wide screen tv? Would I miss out on tv programmes?%26gt;

Not if you stick with Sky, otherwise you will need a Freeview box when the analogue service is terminated. The lack of HD is not a factor, it just means you will not be able to take advantage of the High Definition channels (but you can see the same programs in the ordinary resolution).

%26lt;Finally, if I buy a HD TV, would I need to buy another dvd player?%26gt;

Your present DVD player would work, but you would not be able to view in High Definition. For that you would need a new machine - currently quite expensive but prices will tumble next year.

%26lt;At present, I subscribe to sky. With a HD TV would my subscription to sky increase? Would I need a new sky box?%26gt;

You could use your existing box and pay the same but you would be unable to view programs in High Definition. You would need a new Sky box and around a 15 quid per month increase in subscription to be able to see the new channels in HD mode.

Personally I would buy a HD set with Digital (unless money is really tight). A good 32 inch can be bought for less than 600 pounds. That way you are ready for HD when it really takes off and you have the option to leave Sky and go with Freeview if you want to save the subscription
Reply:u dont need a hd tv an ordinary lcd tv would be fine, if you did get a hd you wouldnt need to upgrade sky, only if you wanted a better picture

Is TV a reflexion of sociey or?

the other way around? I think people who blame today's problems on TV are trying to find an easy way out. It's easier to say it's the TV instead of addressing some of today's issues. Yes, we didn't see a lot of things on TV years ago but then again a lot of these things weren't happening years ago. I mean there are probably some things on TV that shouldn't be there but you can't say that everything is the fault of a TV program. I mean people need to step up and address the real issues. I am just curious as to what your thoughts are on this matter.

Is TV a reflexion of sociey or?
I think that TV shows are a reflection of the society. It exposes the cracks in a society and it provides a social and political commentary.

Also, we live in a desensitized society and thus, we only notice societal problems after it is being shown on TV.
Reply:well considering society was around way before television i would have to say tv reflects society and before anything can be put on tv someone has to have that idea in their head anyway. We don't put something on tv and then someone get the flipping idea for it. lol. But I'm sure that tv can have influence on especially younger children and teenager that don't have good role models in their lives. So if parents don't monitor watch their children watch on tv or sit down and discuss the stuff they see with them then the children may start to imitate what they are seeing so I would say in that way its kind of a circular thing. tv reflects society then people see the tv and mock the tv and it never ends.
Reply:Depends on what kind of TV

some movies is just plain stupid, over dramatically and ridiculous. There also programs that advocates wrong values, and it's not just people simply shifting the blames

I grew up with other teens, I grew up with TV, I can tell for a fact that during my teen years, there are some of my peers who love watching gangsterism movies because they think it's cool. They think gangsterism is cool, they idolize such movies, and believe me, they emulate it. They gets into fights in gangs just for the heck of it (they do not have the true intentions to kill anyone).

TV have a big influence on people.
Reply:Not totally, but it sure isn't helping anything.
Reply:I am so tired of people blaming the TV, music, etc. for what happens in their life. I do not allow my children to watch the news because I have seen far worse stories on there than on many TV shows. If it were as simple as unplugging the TV to get our lives back on track, more people would do it. If people would accept responsibility for their own actions instead of blaming everyone else, we'd be a lot better off.
Reply:people do what they want to do!

T.V or no T.V so get a life just look in the mirror it,s you not the TV..they don't tell you to do things...come on be for real...

A TV Magnifier?!!?

im looking for a tv magnifier, that will turn my 32inch tv into something bigger?!?

i have seen some online, but theyre not big enough. i think it was turn a 32inch into a 36inch tv. i for one would like a larger television, but havent really got the money at the moment. i was looking for a rear projection tv not so long ago, and i purchased one for £500 (52Inch) but it was never delivered and had to be refunded. anyone know of any cheap rear projection tv's??

A TV Magnifier?!!?
There are fresnel lenses that can do this, but they look terrible. What about sitting closer?
Reply:Don't waste your money on the magnifiers. They are usually plastic fresnel lenses and have terrible image quality.

What tv!? (the battle of sony vs samsung!)?

i have FINALLY gathered the right amount of money to get a decent size tv for my room (26") but now its deciding time, sony or samsung. I will primarilly be using the tv for my ps3 so its all about picture quality to get the best graphics, i was wondering also if any of you have owned any of the tv's i am considering so i can get a good review

They are the Samsung LE26R87BD

or the Sony Bravia KDL26S3000U

I hope you can help!

What tv!? (the battle of sony vs samsung!)?
The two top 26" LCDs, for BOTH performance and reliability, are Panasonic and Sony, NOT Samsung. But it's your money - lol. Based on only the 2 you asked about, it's Sony, hands down.

Re: Cheap TVs, like the Vizio junk, read: http://www.hdguru.com/your-new-flat-pane...
Reply:Yeah thanks I went for the sony

But they had a special deal so i got the 32" in the end!

wooop! Report It

Reply:Do not buy Samsung!! I am not happy with them!! I have a 42 inch HDTV DLP TV that I bought.....after 1.2 years (warranty was up after 1 year and I did not buy the extended warranty)....it went out...they told me to fix it would cost between 400-700 for the part, 245 for the labor, etc!!! Crazy!! I can buy the tv for that much now! I have sent letters and called back and no one has been helpful! If you read online....I have heard a lot of complaints about Samsung TV's. Go with Sony!! Don't forget to get an extended warranty too! It is well worth it!!
Reply:I personally would not choose either I would go to a 37" Vizio. I have one and people who have samsung, Sharp, Sony, and other big name brands cant get over how much better my picture is then theres. I have had if for a 1.5 years and I cant wait to get the 42"
Reply:Both of these are great sets but are both 720p. PS3 is a full HD input (1080p) so your games and blu-ray movies will look the best possible. If the room can take it, consider a 32" 1080p set.
Reply:well it is a SONY Playstation 3 so dont you think it would be nicer on one of its own brands?

Help! tv has no pic, no sound, panasonic 32 color?

tv is about 5-6 yrs. had been rolling but would come on, now it has a black screen w/a color splash in middle but won't come on and no sound now. I'm on cable and have checked all my cable connections. When I unplug the tv and hit the remote, it clicks but then no picture comes on..just the color splash that stays in the middle even when I unplug the tv again, Eventually it goes away. Any help would be appreciated.

Help! tv has no pic, no sound, panasonic 32 color?
Sounds like your lamp has burnt out. Expecaially after 5 to 6 years.

All LCDs and Plasmas have lamps in them after so long they will burn out. This happened to an old Laptop of mine. The reason you hear it turn on and work is because the TV itself works but there is no light to make all the colors show up.

To test my theory turn it on and look at the screen really closely use a flash light or something to try to see if you can see a picture.

I'm not sure what you mean by the color splash. This could actually make my theory wrong. Instead your panel could be broken and the color splash is stuck pixels.

My TV has a black square on it?

My sister was watching my tv and a huge black square popped up and blocks all the picture except for about 2 inches around the edge. It is a JVC tv. Did she press something or is the tv broken? How do i fix it?

My TV has a black square on it?
She probably turned on one of the Teletext channels. Teletext is sort of like Closed Captioning except it is full screen. It will be labeled TEXT and will be on one of the menus. Turn it off and you should be OK.
Reply:I think I know what is going on. If you have an LCD than this is going to happen if extreme pressure was put on it or if it was used for long and fequent periods of time. If this is the case use the waranty.

If you have the older tv's i think it is time for a new one because it is probably unfixable.
Reply:it's the closed captioning.

Philips TV used as a monitor from dvi to hdmi?

I have a compaq tc 4200 laptop computer, and i wanted to use my 26 inch philips tv for my monitor. my tv though does not have a vga port therefore i tried dvi to hdmi. well when i plugged it in and tried to fixed the screen to the appropriate size, it was all fuzy and it kept fidgeting. does anyone know what? my tv is a Philips Modea with the pixel plus.

Philips TV used as a monitor from dvi to hdmi?
well... using the HDMI port on a TV to take input from a PC is not recommended unless u have the exact screen ratios and refresh rates. Id recommend connecting to the VGA port at the back of the TV as the first option. They are specifically for PC input.

Syncing tv shows and movies to my ipod?

I have a problem. I downloaded tv shows from the itunes store and I want to sync it to my ipod now but it doesn't work. I went to the tv shows tab checked sync all unwatched and below that i also checked all tv shows then I clicked apply but this pop up comes up and says the ipod "John" cannot be synced. The required disk cannot be found. What does this mean? I don't understand. I really need some help.

Syncing tv shows and movies to my ipod?
Which iPod do you have? Only certain ones are capable of playing video. It has to be a 5th generation iPod, the new iPod Classic, a 3rd generation iPod Nano, or an iPod Touch. Anything else is incapable of playing video. If you do have one of those models, check out Apple's support pages at:http://www.apple.com/support/ They are very informative.

My TV won't turn on and it's almost time for American Idol!!?

I have 2 remotes that I use for my TV, one for my Comcast Cable and the other is an old remote that I only keep to adjust the time on my somewhat old VCR. While using the VCR remote to do just that, this "Video 1" message appeared at the top of my screen and would not go away. In fiddling around with the VCR remotes menu options, I managed to get rid of it, but then the menu that I used to do that would not go away. I had hoped that by just turning off the TV and the VCR, I could get rid of the menu option, but now my TV won't turn on! It is a Sony and it is stuck in "Standby/Timer" with a little red blinking light. No sound or anything. The VCR remote is a GE Universal Remote. Did I majorly screw up?

My TV won't turn on and it's almost time for American Idol!!?
Wow, you must have ON/OFFed that TV to death to make it blink and only blink....

You probably killed the Horizontal output...

That would be the very FIRST thing I would look at if I saw the timer light blinking....

Direct TV is riiping us off!?

My husband and I switched to Direct TV when Dish wanted $175 up front for HD hook up after being with them for 4 years. We never had HD before so when we switched over we assumed we had it. Recently we had to stay with our inlaws while work was being done in our house. They had just switched to Direct TV on our reference. It was then that we noticed that we had been paying for HD for 8 months and not been getting it. At our inlaws, there was an HD channel for every regular channel. This was not the case at our house. When I called Direct TV they asked why we had not called about the situation before and I told them we never knew until our inlaws signed up and we saw that our set-up was nothing like there's. I asked them to credit our account (They owe us $80) but they say because we have been getting service they can't credit us for anymore than 2 months. Who can I speak to about this that will agree that it is B.S. and possibly get us credited in full?

They did upload the channels.

Direct TV is riiping us off!?
read your subscriber agreement about credits and refunds. Yes its sad but it is what you agreed to when you took the service.
Reply:I like direct. When I re-signed they gave me one month free and $15 off a month plus free DVR, 3 months free of movie channels (seems to be the compensation for any grievance). Dish never offered me that.

Satellite TV on your PC?

Hello, Has anyone tried the Satellite Tv on your PC. They say its a one time fee of $49.00 for 3000 stations no fees ever again. Just download their software. Is this to good to be true? Also can you hook up your PC to your TV. I have a new Plasma TV so I think it would have the connections there but not sure how this all works. I am trying to cut costs in my house hold and it would be nice to have no cable bill. Thanks Everyone.

Satellite TV on your PC?
I use it everyday on my pc to catch with with the news and some sports. Frankly, I haven't tried fixing to the tv but I think it's more suitable for the pc or laptop.

The advantage of this satellite tv for pc is the flexibility and convenience, like you can watch anywhere - in the office, in your study or even in the garden. But if you have a nice big plasma tv, I think I'll stick to cable or satellite tv.
Reply:I bought one of those so called deals to watch tv from around the world and I found it to be a waste of my money. Report It

Reply:Better still try.. http://www.pctv35.info/index.htm?aff=317 it's only $29 and includes 15 extra internet tv players (total over 10,000 stations) Also includes unlimited movie and series downloading so you won't miss anything

but like Ann above said, with a new big plasma tv your best bet is subscription cable as streaming tv still is not that great do to file sizes of movies and image quality not being as optimal as landline cable due to the compression methods used by some recorders who create the internet streams
Reply:Do join it. They give you 100% moneyback gurantee.
Reply:I signed up 3 months ago, and that is true that they have 3000+ channels to choose!!

It save me a lot from monthly $90+ for unlimited channels to one time payment of $49 to access to tons of international satellite TV channels.

Best TV Card for Windows Media Center?

Hi, i'm planning to build a multimedia pc for my lounge room, i'm planning to connect the PC with current analog TV and with coaxial TV cable from my digital tv provider.

Could i have some suggestions the best card for that purpose that is compatible with windows media center (XP and Vista)

Thank you

Best TV Card for Windows Media Center?
I use Pinnacle's plug and play style with the built in antennea. I works great with vista too (that was amazing in it'self). All I have to do is plug it into the usb port whenever I want to use it on my laptop. I never looked into the onboard cards for desktops, but I if Pinnacle makes one, I would go with it because I know from experience that their products work well.

Used direct tv box?

I subscribe to direct tv, I have one TV hooked up to it, I would also like to hook my TV in the bedroom up to it, Could I buy a used direct TV converter box on ebay and use a splitter and use this as a receiver?, If not, Would I have to pay an EXTRA monthly fee for the used box???

Used direct tv box?
I know each box has a card in it with a code number on it and unless that code number is turned on and activated by them

the box will be useless .

No tv output on tv video card?!?!?

okay, im trying to put my av output cords to my television but there isn't a yellow (video) output cord on my tv. I tryed looking on my camcorder to see if there was a signal, and there wasn't. Is there anyway I can record anything on my tv?

No tv output on tv video card?!?!?
Get a Tv tuner form any store soo you can get t.v. on your computer and just reacord it form there. it's fun ! trust me !
Reply:*Your TV may have a connector on the back instead.

*See if your VCR has one. Most VCR's have a 3-prong connector thing on the front.

*Some TVs have a different colored connector other than yellow. See if you can see video by plugging it into one of those. The sound ones do not have to be plugged in for you to see video.

*Not all TVs or VCRs have 3 connectors. Some might have just one (Example: Instead of video, sound L%26amp;R, it would have Video and mono sound - either left or right can be plugged into it)

As for recording stuff, its best to have it plugged in through the VCR.

Help my tv makes weird clicking noise?

its a mitsubishi regular tv and when its on it makes a click/tick noise and when it does so the pic dims away and comes back right away sometimes it clicks constantly and then other times it wont click at all i could have the tv on all day without clicks but out of nowhere its like a click tantrum and then just stops clicking whenever it wants to and unpluging it and plugging back in does no good. i heard it could have been the cable box so i hooked it up oldschool way and still does it! its a nice tv and would like to get it fixed but maybe it could be somthing easy to resolve but with my luck it will cost more than the tv is worth

Help my tv makes weird clicking noise?
I am willing to bet from a pinch to a pound of sh,it that your focus control is arcing internally or the focus volts are arcing on its connector on the CRT base board !!

Cheers Pete
Reply:Realist 2006 is SO CORRECT that I wouldn't want to add anything....short of the fact it MIGHT be your Spark Gaps or the CRT socket arcing....all three parts are reasonably priced...

Viewing tv on pc?
I am currently using something called a Location Free Player which is made by Sony. Its fairly simple to setup, just plug in all the cords load it on your computer and you are ready to go. As long as noone at your house changes the channels on you, then you can watch whatever you want :)

The infared cord actually fits below the receiver for the remote (where you point the remote to change channels) If you bought the television tuner along with your computer, then you SHOULD be set to go. I didnt so I had to buy the Location Free player.

Which TV is better for the environment?

I have a traditional 27" tube tv but I want a flat screen LCD TV, a 32". Does the LCD use less electricity? Would it be worthwhile to sell my tube tv and get the LCD?

Which TV is better for the environment?
Most of the newer flat panel TVs (including LCDs) do use more nergy that the old tube models. If you're looking, be sure to find one with an energy star rating.

You may not get much, if anything, trying to sell the old one (especially w/ digital only coming soon). May be easier to donate or bring to a recycling center.
Reply:From what I have uncovered in the past, if you're looking to invest in an LCD and want to make sure it is eco-friendly, there are two requirements.

1/ make sure it is Energy Star.

2/ Sharp is known to be the most green electronic company of all televisions produced these days.

I don't know if LEDs are being implemented into flat-panel televisions now, but they are in laptops (Apple uses them). If LED-based televisions are out there, I wouldn't be surprised if this would factor in another view of the best "green" flat-panel television.
Reply:What's best for the environment is using what you've already got... the electricity difference is negligible compared to the energy and raw materials consumed to produce a new TV and the waste generated by getting rid of the old one.

My tv has an Lcd Screen and it had a black line in the corner....?

I washed it thinking it was a magic marker line now the screen has a triangle size black spot in the corner of the tv. Could it have been a crack and the windex seeped into it causing it to spread. Thats what my husband said I didnt know your not suppose to wash it with windex. If it did will it dry out? Can I put a fan near the tv to help it dry? Please no mean comments about not knowing about not to wash it with windex this is the first lcd tv I have ever had didnt know.

My tv has an Lcd Screen and it had a black line in the corner....?
one guy is wrong it WILL hurt your tv because I did the same thing to my lcd computer moniter now the streak will not go away! it probably seeped through the screen and damaged the pixle(s). because it only is in the corner and the glass is not seald from all the rest of the stuff behind it. you can call a service guy and he will probably be able to fix it. hope this helps! :)
Reply:windex will not hurt you lcd or plasma tv its a mith that it hurts them i service sony tvs the line unless you can feel a crack is probubly a broken pixel witch is very common with lcds
Reply:Do you see that black line at all times? It may just be caused by a video source or the panel may not be aligned.

MAGNAVOX TV NO PICTURE or SOUND?

My TV worked just fine until we turned on the picture slideshow thing that Comcast advertised on its OnDemand menu. After it was over, we turned it off to watch our regular shows. The TV has sound but no picture.

I've unplugged it and it did nothing. I unhook the cable box from the TV and it has no sound or picture now, not EVEN static. The menus aren't working on it, I'm completely lost at what to do.

Is this something Comcast is at fault for? It did not happen until we turned off THEIR slideshow.

Please someone help?

MAGNAVOX TV NO PICTURE or SOUND?
try to reset the cable box, check your connections see if you have sound and video when plays DVD or VCR if not maybe is the TV

HD TV Sucks?

I have a HD TV from Samsung. I don't watch TV so I don't use cable or anything like that. I do play video games though! But when I play a video game the graphics are "Trailed" which is annoying. Like if I turned around in the game the whole area in which I'm in will "Trail" with it so everything goes like.. Blurred. Like if there is any movement on the screen it's fuzzy looking. HD TV's arn't for gaming I guess? I have Playstation 3 and Xbox by the way so it's not from like retro games.

I PICK BEST ANSWER AS SOON AS I CAN!!!!

HD TV Sucks?
It sounds like you have an LCD TV. LCDs switch state slowly and, therefore, create what is called "motion blurr" on fast moving objects. Some LCD TVs attempt to compensate for this blurr with 120 screen updates every second (120hz). The new Sharp Aquos seems to work best in reducing motion blurr when gaming because it uses a faster LCD (4 msec.) The Samsung "Auto Motion Plus" feature is OK. Sony's "Motion Flow" feature just plain sucks!
Reply:The problem is not HD per se, its the plasma or LCD technology used for the screen. Cathode Ray screens are much faster and you do not get the trail. I think LCD is improving but Cathode Ray will be the best for games for the time being.

Obviously since you are using PS3 and XBOX a video card is not relevant.
Reply:your video card dosent have enough space try getting a bigger one
Reply:Aloha from Down Unda!

The information I have is ~

~HD Television requires a system to be supported with HD senders at a subscription service

~Games are for kids appreciating the trails

I'd never buy HD TV or any games!

Best wishes~
Reply:LCDs have often had an issue with "ghosting", or the "trailing" that you're talking about. This is generally caused by a slower refresh rate and shows up on fast moving images such as FPS video games and sports. Generally, LCDs with a refresh rate of 8ms or below and newer sets with the 120Hz processors do not have this issue.

HDTVs are definately good for gaming, just not all of them can handle the motion as needed.

You MIGHT have the TV set to the SAP AUDIO mode which would cause your TV channels to have no sound, but allows the Video 1 Audio to fully function....

Set your audio mode to main or stereo and make sure it's not setup for SAP mode....

The only other thing that would cause your symptoms is if the TUNER could not send the audio signal out of it.....

I'm leaning towards the SAP being turned on ......

GREEN tv??

I will be getting my dad's huge big screen TV soon, but it has some issues. When watching cable, it will sometimes be green, but other times, it will be fine. I haven't noticed it while watching a DVD, but I could be wrong. But it's probably not the cable because my parents have a TV and cable in their room and it's never green, but they do have a different "box" than the one with the big TV. So, my question is: if I plug an Xbox into it, will it also be green?

If so, what can we do to fix it?

THANKS!!

GREEN tv??
While its very difficult to diagnose a problem like this over the 'net, there is one possible solution. If the input jacks on the back of the tv are the type which require 3 seperate cables (red, blue, %26amp; green), it is possible that your parents have loose red %26amp; blue wires. If this is the case, simply pushing in the cables all the way will alleviate the problem.

However, if its a shorted tube, unfortunately you're looking at $300+ for repair. Good luck!
Reply:not sure, but if ur planning to watch tv on it too, then i suggest u wait for nxt year, they are doing a salleialte change, in year 2009

and i think everything like the visuals will be updated
Reply:TV video cables sometimes carry the red, green and blue color channels on separate wires. If you TV sometimes goes green it implies that the red and blue signal is being dropped for some reason.

Check your cables, connectors etc, one of them might be faulty.

What does this mean? I hate watching TV. I literally can not tolerate watching anything on tv.?

If i am stuck in a place like a waiting room with a TV on, i have to go outside if possible. I haven't watched tv in my home since approximately 2003. If I am visiting someone and they have their TV on, i go in another room. It's hard to explain why i hate TV. I like radio, i like looking at news and weather and other stuff on the internet, but i can't watch news or weather or anything else on TV. Sports and sit-coms piss me off the most.

What is the cause of this weird aversion to TV?

What does this mean? I hate watching TV. I literally can not tolerate watching anything on tv.?
Maybe you feel as though the TV is talking too much.

Maybe you feel like it is taking up space in that room and when it is on, it is distracting.

Maybe you like to choose what you look at instead of sitting there staring at the TV and having it show you things that you do not want to see. You are in charge of what you do with your time. Perhaps TV is not quality time for you. When you are on the Internet you have control.

I hope this helps.
Reply:I have no idea, but it's kind of awesome. It certainly can't be too bad for you.
Reply:I used to watch all the time. Now I found I have better things to do, and the content of TV does not arouse my interest.

So I may watch 5 hours a year. It may not be an aversion, just an unwanted distraction. I hate the TV in the waiting rooms, and feel dissed if I go visit someone who does not turn off their TV while I am there.
Reply:I have experienced the same thing in the past year or so! I used to watch tv with no problem Now it seems like there is so many offensive things on there and I just don't like to watch anymore. Too many naked women (everywhere you look). It seems like every commercial has a half naked woman in it. Now I know it's not every commercial, but it sure seems like more than half! And forsome reason this sends me into an upheaval. I get so mad and yell and leave the room. So now I just stay on my PC and don't pay attention to the tv, or it'll drive me nuts! TV offends me, and I'm not sure if it has to do with my mental illness (bipolar) or what?

EDIT: the one below me has a great answer. maybe that's what it is!
Reply:If you hate sports and sitcoms then it probably has to do with the sound. Sports has the cheering and commentary, and sitcoms have the fake annoying laugh tracks and are just loud in general. I hate that too.
Reply:You need to get out and get fresh air.

Why abuse your body in front of a stupid television set that has programming they hope will control your mind.

You know better.

Your cells need oxygen, energy and sunlight. Drink water too.

He wants to watch tv?

I cuddled up to my man last night hoping for a bit of lust and he just stared at the tv. I asked him if he was watching the tv and he said yes. I went off to do my nails hoping he would could to bed when the film was finished. He did only to say he was going to stay up to watch the footie. I told him I was disappointed because I wanted to spend some time with him and all he wants to do is watch tv. I turned off the light and he just went back to the tv. I feel so confused between being angry because I feel that the tv is more important than me and feeling I have no right to feel the way I do. It's up to him what he does and I can't make him do what I want. I feel like I am being a big kid about this and am hurt at present. It's good Friday today and we have his daughter here today. I don't know whether to drop this and pretend it didn't happen or give him the cool shouler today or raise it with him?

He wants to watch tv?
Unless he does this on a regular basis - and knows it upsets you - I'd drop it. Sometimes we need 'space' and sit quietly in front of innane TV to just switch off or have a think. Does he interact with people a lot all day - or is he a bit of a loner? either way, he may just need to withdraw into his cave sometimes and it is not about you.

It's Easter - your stepdaughter is over - put some music on, have a glass of wine, talk to a girlfriend - whatever makes you feel a bit happier - and don't take it personally.

Give him a kiss - or a cup of tea, or a smile - to let him know you love him, and don't push it. He will appreciate your understanding.

We cannot expect to get all our love from one person - so maybe you need to 'love' yourself a bit more by doing things that make you feel better - that will boost your self-esteem, and then you will be able to confidently weather these moods.

Make sure you have a close network of family/friends around you who show you love when your man isn't able to.

If you are still worried that there's something wrong, wait til the w/e is over (why spoil the holiday?) and then maybe arrange a date for the two of you. Get out of your comfort zone - go and walk along the beach or take a picnic and eat it in the car - and maybe then you can tackle this with him in a non-controntational manner.

You have every right to feel a bit miffed, it is very understandable and reasonable, but think smart now and try not to rely on him for ALL your happiness. The lighter mood will probably do the trick all by itself. Good luck - and Happy Easter! At least there's some choc on the offer:)
Reply:Wake him up in the middle of the night if you want some thats what I do. Or tell him hey we are turning off the TV, cook a nice dinner dress a little sexy. Tell him how much you miss him. If he doen't respond maybe there is more wrong and you should seek counciling.
Reply:just wait...untill the little one is gone...THEN bring it up.

Its not worth being cold and not talking when the little one is there....that would be wrong.

besides. act like nothing happened, even though it really is hurting you...and when the time comes, and your man is ready,,,,,you are not.... ;-)

you watch a movie...it will be hard...but do it.

Then later, when the movie is finshed, you can ask him how he liked it...
Reply:Perhaps he was just tired after a days work.If it continues to happen you will need to work this problem out with him.Good Luck and Happy Easter.
Reply:don't give him the cold shoulder.....My husband and I have been together for 7 years now and are as happy as we were the first month of dating. I believe we are so Happy because we communicate, we let each other know how we feel .

don't bottle up your feelings it is only going to drive you crazy and he will never know what you feeling. don't yell, don't argue. just sit him down and let him know how you feel. you may be surprised to find out he don't even know he upset you.

good luck
Reply:I can totally relate. My boyfriend can be a couch potato and sometimes I think he loves the tv more than me. I complain and complain, but he still continues to watch tv until he is ready to go to bed. I'm at a standstill and I will say one thing, it pisses me off. There should be a balance in my eye's and it sounds like your husband may just be selfish as far as showing you attention. I deal with this same situation every single day and it drives me nuts.
Reply:tell him how you feel and that you are wondering if there is anything you can do for him...
Reply:Grow up , ask for what you want don't leave stuff to chance....
Reply:Ok, for the last time ... GUYS CANNOT READ WOMEN'S MINDS!!! All your subtle little gestures and what not are useless. If you want to get laid, just say it. The TV will be off in two seconds.. GEEESH!!
Reply:c'mon give the guy a break what if he was upset of sth what if he was sad and didnt wanna upset u too, dont be selfish, dont give him the cold shoulder today since ur havin his kid but talk to him in a nice way when she leaves like ask him ( how do you feel honey? what was wrong yesterday? ) even if he didnt say a thing thats okay cause hes gonna tell you later just keep on bein nice to him
Reply:Sounds like your being a little unreasonable

Girls expect us to read their minds, and I think it's been proven many times over that overall, not our best asset as guys.

If you want to fool around, either give stronger hints or flat out say it.
Reply:Its hard but you need to tell him whats wrong otherwise it will just get worse.

P.s if it gets really bad have and unfortunate accient with a hammer and every tv in the house
Reply:perhaps he's just not in the mood.... you know I'm sure
Reply:tell him how u feel

he should't be doing this
Reply:SOME men's sexual needs are different. All they need is a quick poke and they are done. Women need much more. But you need to talk to him and tell him how you feel. If he's hardheaded it won't make a difference. If he truly wants to make you feel good he'll listen. Men are strange creatures sometimes. Don't blame yourself and NEVER be in a relationship that is not making you happy. good luck.
Reply:Personally, I would say it could be passed off as him just not wanting to be especially intimate that night. However, it would not hurt to ask him why he was like that on that night. I do not recommend giving him the cold shoulder or just passing it off as nothing, though. Giving him the cold shoulder could very well raise a stressful situation and cause more anger beyond what you have already had; and passing it off as nothing could show a lack of concern or cause him to think you did not notice at all nor care very much about what he does. I hope I was of some help to you.
Reply:Just tell him how insignificant it's making you feel. It's not fair that he should be making you feel this way just so he can watch TV.

Men aren't mind-readers, and he probably won't understand why you're upset unless you explain!
Reply:He's probably just got something on his mind I would just give it time he will probably get better.
Reply:LOOK HIM STRAIGHT IN THE EYE AND SAY MOUSE
Reply:i think u should jus drop it....for the gurl u no
Reply:tell him to go forth and multiply , then get a new man , no real man sits watching telly when there is sex on offer !!! ,
Reply:How about stop expecting him to read your mind and say what you want? Do you just sit there or do you kiss him and touch him. Maybe he just wanted a nice relaxing evening. Communication is the key to everything.
Reply:dude! you should talk to him. he needs to know how you feel. be honost.
Reply:That's hard. You know every relationship has it's 'ups and downs. And you aren't both going to be in the mood every time.

It's probably a good idea to drop it while his daughter is there, let him enjoy his time with her and you together. (it's possible that was what was distracting him)

If the TV is a common distractor for your relationship, then the TV isn't really the problem, it's just the tool being used. Try to figure out what the problem is, and if it helps get the topic on the table.. have the cable turned off for a week :P

You sound like you love him and want to work on the relationship - and that is a great place to be at! It'll work out - don't sell yourself short.
Reply:You need to talk to him about it, there might be other reasons. Just wait until his daughter leaves, you don't want to spoil the time he has with her. Try to let it slide and act as normal as you can until his daughter leaves.
Reply:For the sake of his daughter, don't start a fight. But definitely let him know how you feel.
Reply:how about at night time tell him u have to talk to him, and when u get him to your room, pull his pants down give him a bj and then rock him till the wheels fall off!!!!! there is no way he will ignore u then...unless he is a closet homo

Best tv do use for console gaming?

I have both a wii and a ps3 and am going to play them in my basement and need a good tv just about 30" to play my games and watch my movies and tv programs what tv would be best?

Best tv do use for console gaming?
I would say the 32" Sony Bravia LCD with the gaming system hooked up to Component 1 video input.
Reply:I agree with Judd and I'll explain to you why.

Games often have static icons and text these object do not move and cause havoc on CRT and Plasma displays where Burn in is a problem. That is why LCD is your best bet.

Also getting a brand name one will reduce the chance you get a TV with a refresh rate that is too slow for your game.

Keep in mnd if you are useing a 30" TV save some money and don't get a 1080p as you will NOT be able to tell the difference from 720p.

Direct TV is ripping us off!?

Direct TV is ripping us off!?
so many people have problems with them

i have and will stick will cable.....
Reply:I would cancel my service with them. They pulled some funny business a few years ago, signing me up for some NFL package I never requested. My bills get paid automatically, so I didn't catch the change for about 2 months. They didn't want to credit my account, because they said they had no way of knowing I wasn't watching those channels and they said I should have been more careful with my bill.

WTF? I didn't sign up for the package. I told them to cancel the service and come and collect their crap equipment.

They credited the full amount of the package at that point.

Years later, I'm back to being a cable TV customer. Great picture, pacakge discount due to having high speed internet with them, and no service interruptions due to bad weather (heavy rain and snow).

Good HD TV for gaming?

I finally talked my dad into helping me buy a HD Tv. I currently own a XBOX 360 and am looking to use it in full HD. However I just started the looking process and am having a hard time finding a TV to use for primarily gaming. The budget I have is about $1100 and looking for a Tv thirty two inches or bigger. Any ideas on what to look for in certain HD tvs or a good tv to look into buying?

Good HD TV for gaming?
dont get a plasma tv. there very bad for video games. i got a 32 inch vizio lcd hdtv. i play ps3 on hd. its a perfect tv for video games and its about $500.00.

New Zealand TV and UK DVD players,,,advice needed?

Will a UK DVD player play UK DVDs through a New Zealand TV,,,,,the advice from the NZ government is not to take your UK TV as there is a different number of lines on the TV transmissions...

So will using a UK DVD player work on a NZ bought TV?

New Zealand TV and UK DVD players,,,advice needed?
You will need an all regions DVD player. NZ is region 4 and the UK is region 2. If you play UK DVD's thru a UK player onto a Kiwi TV it should be OK, but not Kiwi DVD's on the same player.
Reply:you're telling me porkies
Reply:If its a multi region dvd player then it might it should do no matter the brand of the television.

Direct tv question?

I was woundering if the time was set for estern like new york or something because i live in california. If anyone now how to fix this please tell me and give me all the details. Thankyou♥♥♥

Only helful informaition please.

Direct tv question?
First, are you sure you're not looking at the Distant Network Services (DNS)? There are a few channels that you have to submit waiver requests (and have them granted) in order to view them. There are one set each from LA (west coast) and NY (east coast). They're only for markets (zip codes) where DirecTV cannot legally provide local affiliates because they do not have permission.

If that's not the case, check to see if you can change the time zone settings on your receiver like another person said. If that doesn't work, verify that the address on your DirecTV account is correct. Oftentimes the receiver will set itself by your physical address on file, and if the zip code is wrong you can have a few problems other than the time.
Reply:Check the website or your guide. I know at one time when we had DTV we had both an East and a West coast channel. They were ABCE and ABCW. Usually they are next to each other in the guide. Hope this helps.
Reply:In the settings (Menu%26gt;Display%26gt;Time Zone), there is a time zone setting. It might work, but I don't know. If all else fails, contact Customer Service.
Reply:All times listed on Directv are Eastern Time and you have to subtract 4 hours, Eastern, Central, Mountain and Pacific. I live in the Central time zone so I have to subtract 1 hour from the time listed. There is no way to "fix" it, you just have to live with it. If you can bring up a menu of what is playing the time listed is as a rule the time in your time zone. I beleive Cox was a cable company so they would show local time. You can call DirecTV and the person can explain it to you.

Ps3 on a hd tv?

Hi

I was thinking about buying a ps3 now that they have dropped in price, but i dont own a hd tv.

my tv is just a normal tv, not flat screen plasma or hd.

is it better to buy a small hd tv (probably around 15 inches) or play it on my 34 inch widescreen normal tv? or not buy one.

thanks

Ps3 on a hd tv?
Well graphics wise,

If you hook up a PS3 to an SDTV (standard) it wont look as good, but a little better than a PS2. So it will look not just a little, but to me ALOT worse.

If you hook it up to an HDTV, you can see stuff in 720p - 1080p. That's a big difference. You can see everything, from a grain of sand to a person sweating.

So you can tell alot if it's connected to an SD vs an HDTV.

Oh and for HD, you will need a component cable or an HDMI...and an HDTV

However, playing it on SD isnt that bad. So i guess just play on your 34"
Reply:15 inches is way too small (plus those small, square-shaped lcds dont display HDTV) , you need to get at least a 26 inch widescreen lcd. You can find some 26"" lcd hdtvs for around 400 dollars, you should save an extra $100 or $150 and get the 26" or 32". Make sure to buy the ps3 HDMI cable to get HD from your ps3.
Reply:if you buy the hdmi cable it will make your t.v look even better even thought it is not hdtv
Reply:I think you should buy a PS3. I had a widescreen television and it wasn't HD and it still looked great when I bought the high definition cable for the PS3 at best buy. Thats what I would do. Buy a PS3 and buy the HD cables with it.
Reply:I would stick with the 34 inch SDTV and save until you can purchase a larger screen. Good call on getting the PS3. You will also likely end up taking advantage of blu-ray and let's fact it, watching a movie on a 15" screen doesn't cut it.

PLEASE ANSWER - TV output problem?

I recently burnt '300' -the movie- to disk and it worked perfectly on my dvd player so i decided to connect my dvd player to my tv.

The cable ive got has 3 colours on one end - red, yellow, white - and 2 colours on the other end - yellow and black. The three coloured end i connect to the tv in its correct place and the two coloured end i connect the balck one to 's video' and the yellow one to 'audio' in the dvd players socket.

On my tv everything works perfectly but the problem is that theres no colour with the movie - it shows up in black and white.

Even without any disk in the player the main screen has no colour on the tv output This probably means that this problem has nothing to do with the movie

My tv's system is Multi and my dvd player can be adjusted to play PAL and NTSC.

How can i get colour with the tv when i connect it with my dvd player?

TV static and what to do with it.?

I just brought a brand new TV yesterday for my bedroom. For me to hook it up, I have to use of splitter, because of having cable internet in my room.

Problem is, when I'm using the splitter my TV gives off static. If I were to plug the TV into the wall cable jack I get clear pictures.

Is there anyway I can fix the static problem without having to unscrew the TV cable from the splitter? I'd like to be able to run both my internet and TV at the same time.

I should also add that where I'm living is a rental property. So I don't know if my landlord would be willing to install another cable jack or not. If that would be the only solution..

TV static and what to do with it.?
Your varying results upon changing the cabling could have several causes. A cable might have a short center pin that wasn't fully engaged into the socket. The center pin might have been bent. The cable might be intermittent.

With regard to the cable box, they often aren't that sensitive. You may find you need more power. You can add an amplifier before the splitter, or use a splitter amplifier. Just be sure the amplifier and your splitters are all cable bidirectional.
Reply:Well if you get CLEAR reception straight out of the wall and BAD reception WITH THE SPLITTER.....

That would tell me to REPLACE the splitter with a better one, or get a CABLE splitter if they are Uniquely designed to send RF one way and Digital Data the other way.....

I don't know if that's the case but a call to the Cable Company would answer that question.....

LCD TV picture quality v CRT TV picture quality?

I used to have a small CRT TV in the kitchen but it took up a lot of space. I have just bought a 15" LCD TV to replace it but the picture qulity on the old TV appears to be better than that on the LCD TV. The input is via a normal coaxial TV aerial cable. Is this to be expected?

LCD TV picture quality v CRT TV picture quality?
YES it is to be expected.....

You see, your OLD TV was built to process Low Definition pictures ONLY....so it was tuned for best picture.

NOW you have a HI Definition LCD which is tuned to process Hi Def pictures WHILE supporting the old Low Def signal until it disappears....

So what it does is LINE DOUBLE the old Low Def signal...which magnifys all the shortcomings of the Low Def signal.....

Your snow is magnified...your crappy detail is magnified..

But your DIGITAL signals, and your HD signals are PERFECT!

You may want to try a HD Cable or HD satellite box in your kitchen....but that will take up some space. But your LCD will wow you....
Reply:Yes! LCD TV are not a better picture quality, than CRT, and are still quite a long way off, matching the CRT quality.

The transmission is also analogue, and not digital.

Even the most expensive LCD %26amp; Plasma TV's are not better than CRT, unless the transmission is digital.
Reply:modern LCDs should be just as good as CRT screens, check the aerial cable is OK then check the settings on the TV ie contrast, colour, brightness, etc. If it is a digital TV have you got a digital aerial
Reply:i have a LCD 50 inch and its great!
Reply:LCDs and Plasmas are getting good but nothing beats the old CRT for quality. Its only when they get very big they get to be a problem and we have to use the LCD/Plasmas.

My mate has just got Sky Hi Def and uses a Sony Bravia LCD. I can still see the graining, especially when the camera or subject moves fast. I will hang on for a while until I buy the LCD.

xxB
Reply:Yes! Try replacing the co-axial cable with a higher quality cable as used for digital broadcast. Secondly, the LCD picture quality is to a certain degree still playing catch up with CRT but, it also depends on the tv's pixel resolution.......mine is minimum 1024 x 768 and the picture quality is fine. Another thing to consider is the fact that on the old CRT's the screens are glass and have a very 'glossy' look to them whereas LCD's tend to be 'silk like' or 'matt' and do not cause so much glare. It does take time to adjust to the picture quality on LCD's (at least a few days) so I wouldn't worry too much...in a while you will think nothing of it

Durabrand tv remote code?

Durabrand tv remote code?

How can I hook up more than one TV to my new Directv HD DVR? It doesnt have an "out to TV" port?

With my previous Directv Satellite receiver I could run a cable from the "out to TV" port to a splitter and then to my 3 TV's. The other 2 TVs are in bedrooms and although we couldnt change the chanels we could at least watch tv for no additional monthly charge. However, we just got an HD DVR for our new HD TV and it connects to the TV with either an S Video cable or HDMI cable...there isnt an out to TV port on it that uses regular TV cable and my other TVs are older and can only use TV cable. I don't have a clue how to hook the other TV's into it. The guy who installed the HD DVR said his job order was to hook up one TV so he wouldnt help me at all.

I thought a modulator would work but it looks like they are to hook several componets (like DVD, VCR, %26amp; games) to a TV - not to hook TV's together.

Can you give me any suggestions other than getting additional receivers?

How can I hook up more than one TV to my new Directv HD DVR? It doesnt have an "out to TV" port?
If you get a modulator, you can then use a splitter on the modulator output (it is an ordinary TV signal) to feed the signal to several TVs, the same way you did before. If you have the new HR20 DVR from DIrecTV, then the s-video output is active at the same time the HD outputs (component or HDMI) are. If you have the older TiVo HR10 model, the s-video output only works if the output is set to 480i, so everything you watch on multiple sets will be "low def".

By the way, you can get a remote extender and control your DVR from the remote TVs as well. See http://www.smarthome.com/nav/ProductResu...
Reply:You're right you will need a modulator. Run the HDMI into your new high def set and than you will need to buy an RF coaxial modulator that supports s-video. Than run an s-video cable from the dish box to the modulator. Than simpley plug in the coaxial cable that used to be plugged into the old dish box into the modulators TV out port. Contact if you need more help.

Ps2 tv problems?

my tv won't hook up to my ps2 slim. the slim has three little cords that are colored and my tv only has one where can i get an adapter thing a ma bob

and

my tv makes this horrible buzzing nosie when i play the game i know its coming from the tv how can i fix it?

or is my tv to old for my ps2?

Ps2 tv problems?
try buying an adapter so ur tv can take those 3 colored plugs(av cables) that is what i use for my game consoles

it allows u to put the round cable wire into it from the tv and then u can put the av cables into the little box which is connected to ur tv
Reply:You probably have a television with a coaxial connector. The answer to your question is "Yes, your tv is too old for your ps2."

But at least you have a coaxial connector and can play until you get a different tv.

You should look for sales right now. Because televisions will be switching to new technology in February of 2008, there should be many for sale right now - relatively cheap. Look for one with the AV plugs (red, white, and yellow plugs in the back). Actually if there is one with AV plugs in the front that's even better for you!

Good luck!
Reply:I had the same problem, your tv is too old if it only has one connection. But you don't need to go out a get a new one i don't think. What I ended up doing til I got a new tv, is We connected it through our vcr. I don't if it will work on yours, but my vcr had the 3 plugs on the back so we plugged the ps2 into it and then the vcr into the tv. Good Luck
Reply:your tv is to old try to buy a tv with the at least the yellow and white spots on the front or the back.

Wireless Tv Signal Sender/Receiver?

Hi.

I recently installed a TV Card on my PC but unfortunately i dont have a tv plug in my room. So i was wondering. Is there any wireless product available in the market, where you can use a tv signal transmitter on any tv plug in the house, and use a wireless receiver on any tv or tv card so you can get a good signal? Im not talking about heavy equipment. Just a single transmitter on the one end and a receiver on the other.

Thanks

TV Trouble!!!?

I posted yesterday but here's the full scoop: I have a 10 year old RCA TV. I had my Dish Network box hooked up via a loop - tv/dvd player/dish box. I took the dish box off for awhile. I went to reattach it and when I go to watch tv - just SNOW! The dish box does work on other tvs so it's not the box. I changed nothing as far as connections go. I did try connecting directly to the tv, no luck. I had the television search for channels, thinking that was the issue - it doesn't find any channels EXCEPT when I search for channels while the DVD player is on. Then it finds the channel the dvd player is set to - Channel 3. That is also the channel for the Dish box. Tried watching tv again thinking all was solved - nope. Any ideas on what's up? Thanks!

TV Trouble!!!?
Does the DVD player have a "TV/DVD" switch? Most old VCRs had this, so you would switch between watching what was on the media or what was coming in from the external signal. Your DVD player probably has a similar feature. If you don't switch it to "TV", then the external (sattelite) signal won't get routed to the TV and your TV won't receive any signal.
Reply:When you had the tv search done %26amp; it found the DVD on Ch 3, then tried sat receiver that didn't work, did you try the DVD again to see if it would work? What about trying a set of RCA cables(audio %26amp; video) out of the receiver into the tv (if the tv has A/V input).

Do you have another receiver you can take the tv to %26amp; try it there? If it does work there then add the dvd to it there for a test.

I'm still guessing it's in the tv tuner though!
Reply:You've got to check your leads again. The box should connect through your DVD then from the DVD to the TV. The DVD might need to be on an AV setting, to receive from the box as will your TV (to receive from the DVD).

You need a VGA male to male cable. You should be able to find it at almost any store that sells computer accessories including Radio Shack and Best Buy.
Reply:usually if you go to Radioshack or some place like that, they will have a cable that will the blue end will fit into and the other end will fit into ur tv

Hope this helps.
Reply:You will need to buy what is called a VGA cable. The best thing to do would be go to a local computer store like Best Buy, Circuit City or Radio Shack and explain what your trying to do and they should be able to help you find what you need.
Reply:You need the blue plug that has the blue thingy on both sides
