I was given a 13" Magnavox TV two years ago for christmas, and since the beginning of this year, my television has started making a high pitched humming sound. It isn't the speakers because I've turned sound completely down, and muted Tv and high pitched sound still exists. The volume of the humming varies on how bright the tv shows/commercials are. If a commercial has a black background, humming is still there, but volume is low. If a commercial has a bright white background, humming volume is high. Humming lasts around 20 minutes at a time before stopping. Sometimes it will only hum once for 20 minutes and then stop until Tv is turned back on later, or it will hum for another 20 minutes.
Could the tube be going bad?
TV Problem: 13" Magnavox TV hums, any ideas why?
Not to be rude, but if it's a major annoyance just trash it and buy a new one. A 13" Magnavox television isn't worth fixing and can be replaced for next to nothing. As a general rule, you don't want to have any electronic components repaired that cost under $200 to purchase new.
Reply:Its a design flaw. Report It
