HD Ready TV?

I want to buy this HD ready Tv which is 19 inch, it has Vga,Dvi,Scart,Component,Composite, as well as various other Audio inputs, now it doesn't have a Hdmi port on this Tv, so how can it be HD? if it doesn't have a Hdmi port on the back of the Tv, surely by having hdmi you get High Defintion, but without it you just get normal Tv, I mean Lcd is alot better image quality, and you save a lot more on electric compare to a tube Television, I need your help on this one, do I need to buy a Lcd Tv that has Hdmi only, or will I be ok with buying this Tv without one????

HD Ready TV?
there are three things that will make a hd ready tv.

1. at least 720 resoulatuion.

2.component input

3. digitial input ( dvi / hdmi ).

if you use the dvi then you will also have to use phono leads as well.

Reply:If the T.V says it is HD ready than it must be, but double check to make sure. Not all T.Vs have HDMI outputs. Some T.Vs have analogue HD outputs.

Though in my view you are better of with HDMI output, as i have recently heard that Toshiba at least are only making HD DVD players with HDMI output and i believe many other companies may follow.
Reply:HD Ready means it has to have EITHER HDMI or DVI (as well as a 720 minimum screen res). So yes, it is HD Ready. However, it's far more likely that any other HD Ready hardware you buy will have HDMI instead.
Reply:The TV is HD ready, the HDMI port you talk about is for peripherals that connect to the TV such as DVD etc....

Check out this site....hope it explains it without going into too much depth...
Reply:itdoesnt have to have a hdmi to be hd. the early hd tvs didnt have a hdmi as long as it has component. that was the original hd hook up. and yes it will save you a minute amout of electric but it may only add up to a few dollars a year. and you have to have a hd source to get to see hd picture. and image quality is good only if your getting hd. on normal tv or sd tv. tube tvs are better picture quality
