What Are TV Tuner Card Advantages/Disadvadvantages?

I was just asking anyone out there with knowledge and/or experience, what is a TV Tuner Card like? How is it compared to a TV's quality and such? Is it _extremely_ memory intensive, or just a very (lol)? What about features and the recording? Thanks in advance, 'cause it's much cheaper than a TV for when I leave for uni!

What Are TV Tuner Card Advantages/Disadvadvantages?
I assume you are talking about having a laptop with XP MCE or Vista Home Premium or Ultimate. In that case in the former you will have a built in Tuner and in the latter you can buy an external tuner with remote.

If you have a coax coming out of the wall (or an external antenna), you can set up the Comp to use as a TV. Picture is not bad, there is a guide and you can record like a DVR.
Reply:Most TV tuners are either USB(external) or PCI(internal). Both require an antenna cable so the quality is based on the reseption you have.. The software included allows you to record any content to the hard drive and to pause the TV like TiVo. I'm not sure about the recources needed but a 5-year old PC can definetly support a tv tuner.

What you should watch about are some tuner that connect directly to the Monitor. These just add Tv capabilities to the monitor, they don;t support recording or anything else.
Reply:I am using this I watch 128 channels and record what I want, it shows nice pictures, read the details.
