Anyone know anything about lcd tv's?

I've had a 27" lcd tv for about three years now, and a short

while after I bought it I had to unplug for at least 10 seconds

every day or it would not respond when I tried to change the

volume or turn it on or off.

Yesterday when my cousin was playing a video game on it,the screen went black but I could still hear the volume, then

the picture came back on, and then it went black again.

I unplugged it for a while, but now when I try to turn it on, it

will turn on for about a half-second and then it immediately

shuts down. Could it be the power cord? Are the bulbs replaceable in lcd tv's, and could that be the problem? As far as I know, lcd tv's do not need to be calibrated. I know that plasma tv'sdo, but I've never heard of an lcd tv being calibrated. So I am lost as to what's wrong with it.

Anyone know anything about lcd tv's?
No, LCD TV's do not have easily replaceable bulbs. Typical LCD's use whats known as a cold cathode backlight. It is a tube light similar to that of a Neon sign.

Since the backlight works intermittently my guess would be the ballast is going bad.

You'll need to take the tv in for service... Take a look in the yellow pages for a tv repair shop... or if you're really lucky the factory warrantee might cover it.
Reply:A lot of LCD TV's, over 3 yrs old, do not have a High Definition tuner. I would not fix it. A new LCD TV will be sharper, cheaper and get more channels off the air or from the cable company. Report It

Reply:factory warranties are only about 1 year. you your warranty may be gone. not for the future, when your brand new expensive TV has any problem call the MFGR so they can document it.

All TV's need to have setting tweeked for the enviorment, not just plasma.
Reply:The input that made the video on the game disappear, may have been a loose video cable, but the audio was still plugged in. As for the power it may be a faulty power input. Look around at a electronics shop that specializes in TV. I have one about 20 minutes away, they have saved me from buying a new TV every time something went wrong.
