Apple TV HDMI only works when I unplug the HDMI cable, then plug it back in?

I have an Apple TV and a Polaroid HDTV with HDMI. When I'm on the HDMI input, I can view Apple TV just fine. If I switch inputs (for example, to watch a DVD or play a video game) and then switch back to the HDMI input, I have "no signal". To get my TV to recognize the Apple TV signal, I need to either unplug the Apple TV and then plug it back in, or unplug the HDMI cable and then plug it back in. This happens every single time. What can I do?

Its a problem with the chip set in the HDMI cable and the chip set in your device you are connecting. Its having trouble initalizing and communcating to eachother on start up, its called HDMI Handshake, to remedy this you must cycle inputs or unplug to reset, until standards are set (sometime next year) on HDMI and HDMI output devices this problem will conitue to occur. The only way to solve this would be to switch out the device and hope the new does have the same problem, or switch to using components (red green and blue)
