My friends are beginning to think there is a ghost living in my apartment! I currently own a Philips 42" Plasma TV (with the speakers on the side) and it randomly turns itself off and then back on after about 5-10 seconds. This only occurs when watching or playing anything with the red, green, %26amp; blue plugs. For example, my Nintendo Wii was originally plugged in with the red, yellow, %26amp; white plugs and it never happened. Now it does happen with the red, green, %26amp; blue plugs! Also, when watching DVDs, when it turns itself off I rewind the movie %26amp; the TV will turn itself off again at the same exact scene.
I tried exchanging the TV... Still happens. Bought a new, more expensive surge protector... Still happens.
Another odd thing is that it makes clicking noises every once in awhile while it is off. Sounds like it is turning on/off, but doesn't actually turn on. Any suggestions or should I call the GhostBusters?
Plasma TV turns on %26amp; off by itself!?
Try unplugging it for 5 mins and re plugging it back in...that always works for my brother with the same problem
Reply:Are you sure it is not your hdtv box or whatever you have. Sounds like it is defective and not your tv.
Reply:Exchange for a different brand. May be an issue with that particular brand and model#. May be what is called the digital board, without going into detail. If it is your 2nd tv of same model#, with same problem, be wary about a third time with same set. You could contact Philips about that particular issue but that can be time consuming and they will defend their product to the death.
